On Tuesday, May 5, Brunswick County will host a combined health and emergency‑preparedness expo at the Government Center’s Lisa M. Thompson Walking Trail, offering free health screenings, disaster‑response resources, and activities for families.
Brunswick County is consolidating two of its annual gatherings—the fall Health and Wellness Fair and the spring ReadyBrunswick Preparedness Expo—into a single, four‑hour event on May 5, 2026. The combined expo runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the Lisa M. Thompson Walking Trail at the Brunswick County Government Center in Bolivia, N.C. Parking is provided in front of the David R. Sandifer Administration Building (30 Government Center Drive).
Emergency Management Director David McIntire emphasized the link between personal health and community resilience, noting that “a large part of being prepared for emergencies is making sure you are as healthy and well as you can possibly be.” By aligning the health fair with the preparedness expo, the county aims to reinforce the idea that physical well‑being is a cornerstone of disaster readiness.
