International Environmental Congress & Exhibition IEC Expo is the largest annual gathering of Ukraine’s green-tech community, uniting policymakers, municipal managers, investors, technology suppliers and environmental NGOs in Kyiv every October. The 2023 edition, held 24-26 October at the IEC Expo Center, welcomed 4,300 delegates from 38 countries and 220 exhibitors across 12,000 m² of indoor and outdoor space. The programme is built around three parallel tracks: policy & finance, technology & innovation, and municipal best practice. Morning plenaries feature ministers, mayors and development-bank representatives debating national waste-management strategy, extended-producer-responsibility reform, green bonds and the EU Green Deal alignment. Afternoon breakout halls focus on circular economy, wastewater treatment, air-quality monitoring, renewable energy for cities, landfill remediation and climate adaptation. A dedicated start-up stage hosts 60 young Ukrainian and CEE companies pitching solutions in pyrolysis, composting, sensor networks and battery recycling to a jury of venture funds and corporate venture arms. The exhibition zone is segmented into Waste & Recycling, Water & Sewage, Renewable Energy, Municipal Equipment and Laboratory Analytics, presenting machinery from European, Turkish and Asian manufacturers plus grant-funded Ukrainian prototypes. Practical content includes live shredding, sorting and pyrolysis demonstrations and a mobile app that lets municipalities post procurement needs and schedule B2B meetings. Side events are a zero-emission vehicle parade, river-clean-up action and a youth eco-hackathon. The second day ends with the Green Investment Pitch Night where 15 shortlisted projects seek EUR 5–50 million equity; past winners secured USD 120 million in follow-on funding. Attendance is free for public-sector and NGO staff after online accreditation; corporate passes start at EUR 150. The working language is English with simultaneous Ukrainian translation. The 2024 congress is scheduled for 22-24 October and will introduce a new hydrogen and energy-storage pavilion plus a certification track on EU taxonomy compliance for Ukrainian exporters.
