The 15th Annual American Documentary and Animation Film Festival (AmDocs) takes place from March 25-29, 2026, in Palm Springs, California. The festival is a 501(c)(3) non-profit entity operating under a fiscal sponsorship from the Inquiring Systems Inc. and is presented by the Supple Foundation. The event targets a diverse audience interested in documentary and animation films, as well as industry professionals and filmmakers.
The festival features over 220 films from around the world, including documentaries and animations, which will be screened throughout the event. The program includes a Opening Night Event, which showcases a selection of outstanding shorts and music programs, including Veil, The Boy Who Cheated Death, Eructation, Escape, Gabe's Last Leg, Good Boy, Mookie, Mo & Me, Whale 52, and Sheila: Between Two Winds.
The festival has a history of celebrating and promoting documentary film, with a proven track record of supporting independent filmmakers and their stories about real people and issues. Founded in 2011 by Teddy Grouya, AmDocs has grown exponentially since its inaugural festival in 2012, which honored Oscar winner Oliver Stone. The festival has since featured honorees and guests such as 5-time Grammy winner Dionne Warwick, Oscar nominee Julie Cohen, and 11-time NAACP Image Award winner Kristoff St. John.
AmDocs is recognized as one of the Top 5 Coolest Documentary Film Festivals in the World and one of the Top 25 Film Festivals in the World Worth The Entry Fee by MovieMaker Magazine. The festival also initiated the North-South Doc Network, a unique film festival alliance that provides access to films within each participating festival's program, creating a formal international circuit of festivals.
In addition to the festival program, AmDocs carries out various outreach activities, including the AmDocs Film Fund Pitch Competition, which supports American documentary filmmakers by providing financing for new projects. Past recipients of the competition have gone on to be shortlisted for the Oscars and have been picked up by major distributors such as HBO.
The festival is made possible through the generosity of individuals, foundations, and businesses that support it through contributions, ticket purchases, and in-kind services and materials.
