The 2024 China International Consumer Products Expo (CICIE) will be staged from 13-18 April at the Haikou Exhibition & Convention Center and adjacent new venue zone in Hainan, China. Organised by the Ministry of Commerce and the People’s Government of Hainan Province, the six-day event will occupy 120,000 m² of exhibition space and is expected to attract more than 40,000 professional visitors and 200,000 public attendees. The fair is the first consumer-goods import expo approved by the State Council after the optimisation of epidemic controls, positioning itself as the largest platform of its kind in the Asia-Pacific region.

Exhibits are grouped into eight themed halls: fashion, jewellery & timepieces; maternal, child & elderly care products; high-end food & beverage; lifestyle & household goods; tourism & sports; service consumption; fashion accessories; and a new “global specialty products” zone. Over 3,000 brands from 65 countries and regions have confirmed participation, including national pavilions from France, Italy, Japan, Chile and Indonesia. Luxury groups LVMH, Richemont and Kering will present immersive brand houses, while duty-free giants China Duty Free, DFS and Lotte will launch limited-edition collections exclusive to the expo.

A two-day Global Consumer Innovation Forum will run parallel to the exhibition, featuring keynote speeches by H.E. Wang Wentao, Minister of Commerce, H.E. Shen Xiaoming, Governor of Hainan, and senior executives of L’Oréal, Estée Lauder, Swatch, Nestlé, Tesla and Ant Group. Sub-forums will focus on retail digitalisation, green supply chains, duty-free policy upgrades and the Hainan Free Trade Port. The inaugural “Consumer Tech Day” will showcase AI-powered retail, metaverse shopping and sustainable packaging solutions.

Registration is free for trade visitors who pre-book through the official mini-programme; the public days require a 20 RMB ticket. The organisers will provide shuttle buses between downtown Haikou and the venue every 15 minutes, while high-speed rail from Meilan Airport to the expo station takes only eight minutes. Simultaneous online streaming will allow virtual tours of 300 premium booths, with real-time ordering and cross-border payment in yuan, US dollar and euro.
