The China International Petroleum & Petrochemical Technology and Equipment Exhibition – CPVF – is Asia’s largest gathering dedicated to process safety, corrosion protection, and explosion-proof technology for the oil, gas, refining, chemical and power industries. Scheduled every September in Shanghai, the 2024 edition will occupy 40,000 m² of the National Convention & Exhibition Center and expects 600 specialized suppliers and 35,000 professional visitors from more than 30 countries. The show is co-located with the cippe China International Petroleum & Petrochemical Equipment Exhibition, creating a single 100,000 m² marketplace for upstream-through-downstream technology procurement.
Exhibits are grouped into four thematic halls: corrosion monitoring & mitigation (coatings, cathodic protection, non-metallic pipe), explosion-proof electrical systems (Ex motors, lighting, cable glands, HVAC), process safety instruments (gas detection, over-pressure relief, emergency shut-down valves) and industrial fire & gas suppression. National pavilions from Germany, USA, Italy and South Korea will present live demonstrations of hydrogen-compatible valves, ultra-low-emission pump seals and non-intrusive inspection robots certified for Zone 0.
A two-day summit runs parallel to the show. The opening plenary, delivered by the China Petroleum Pipeline Bureau and Shell Global Solutions, will benchmark the latest NACE SP-21434 and IEC 60079 revisions. Subsequent tracks focus on H₂S stress-cracking in carbon-capture pipelines, quantitative risk assessment of lithium-battery installations inside refineries, and cybersecurity of safety-instrumented systems. More than 120 speakers have been confirmed, including senior engineers from Sinopec, BASF, Aramco, TotalEnergies, Fluor, Emerson, Honeywell and the UK Health & Safety Executive. A poster zone reserved for universities offers young researchers the chance to discuss novel nano-coatings and sensor networks with plant owners.
CPVF 2024 remains an in-person event; however, registered delegates can re-watch keynote sessions through a bilingual webcast for 30 days post-show. Pre-arranged one-to-one supplier meetings, a student career fair and live equipment demonstrations under ATEX conditions complete the programme. Visitor badges grant free access to the neighbouring cippe exhibition, shuttle buses and networking receptions.
