The Yasn.NET portal is the entry point to the yearly Yasnaya Polyana (YASNA) International Book Forum, Russia’s largest springtime literary gathering, held each May on the Tolstoy family estate south of Tula. Designed for publishers, agents, translators, librarians, scholars, teachers and avid readers, the five-day program combines an international rights fair, an award ceremony, a city-wide reading festival and an academic conference. The 2024 edition, scheduled 23-27 May, will host more than 800 authors and 450 publishing houses from 30 countries. Highlights include the Yasnaya Polyana Literary Award presentation—the only Russian prize judged exclusively by writers—whose long-lists in fiction, non-fiction and foreign novel have already been announced. A parallel children’s program, “KnigaDitya,” turns the estate’s orchards into open-air libraries where illustrators run sketching workshops and teenagers meet finalists of the Debut Young Writers Prize. The professional track offers daily panel blocks: “Translation as Diplomacy,” “Bookstore of the Future,” “AI and Copyright,” and a master-class series on audiobook production. Big-draw speakers confirmed for 2024 are 2023 Nobel laureate Jon Fosse in conversation with critic Galina Yuzefovich, Chinese novelist Yu Hua, Serbian winner of the NIN Prize Lana Bastašić, and Russian novelist Lyudmila Ulitskaya, who will open the forum with a lecture on narrative ethics. The rights center provides match-making tables, simultaneous translation and a digital manuscript platform accessible only to registered agents. Evenings feature open-air concerts, poetry performances in the English park and a torch-lit finale inside the 1910 Kuzminsky barn theatre. All events are in-person; accreditation is required for industry sessions, while public readings and concerts are free after estate admission.
