Beijing International Mining Expo, held every June at the China International Exhibition Center, is China’s largest dedicated mining trade show. Over 500 exhibitors from 35 countries occupy 50 000 m² of indoor and outdoor space, presenting the full mining value chain: exploration, drilling, blasting, loading, hauling, processing, tailings management, automation, and mine closure. Global majors such as Caterpillar, Sandvik, Komatsu, Metso Outotec, and China’s CITIC Heavy Industries and CHALICO return each year, joined by emerging tech firms in battery-electric vehicles, hydrogen haul trucks, 5G remote control, AI grade control, and real-time fleet analytics. The 2024 edition expects 45 000 trade visitors, including mine managers, mill superintendents, procurement directors, government geologists, commodity traders, and institutional investors.
The three-day program pairs a world-class exhibition with a concurrent high-level forum. The opening plenary features ministers from China, Mongolia, Kazakhstan, and Indonesia outlining policy shifts on royalties, ESG reporting, and critical-mineral security. Subsequent tracks examine copper, lithium, nickel, rare earths, and iron ore, with price forecasts from S&P Global, CRU, and Shanghai Metals Market. Technical sessions spotlight deep-mine cooling, dry-stack tailings, rope shovel electrification, and autonomous drilling accuracy. A dedicated “Green Mine Day” showcases case studies on biodiversity offsets, water-positive operations, and Scope-1/2 abatement pathways. Investors can attend a reverse-pitch session where 20 junior explorers describe flagship assets in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Zambia, Serbia, and Western Australia. Networking events include a gala awards dinner recognizing “Best Safety Innovation” and “Excellence in Sustainable Supply Chain,” plus on-site live demonstrations of 400-tonne electric drive trucks and a 20 m³ battery-electric hydraulic shovel.
The expo is co-organised by the China Mining Association, the Ministry of Natural Resources, and the Metallurgical Mines Association, ensuring authoritative content and broad domestic participation. Attendance is in-person only; simultaneous translation between Chinese and English is provided in all conference rooms. Registration for trade visitors is free before May 15; a modest fee applies thereafter.
