The Canadian Manufacturing & Production Expo, better known as CMPX, is Canada’s largest indoor trade show dedicated to HVAC/R, plumbing, hydronics, and general plant maintenance. Scheduled for March 25-26, 2025 at the Toronto Congress Centre, the two-day event is strictly in-person and expects more than 4,000 engineers, facility managers, contractors, wholesalers and maintenance professionals from across the country. The show floor is organized into five technology zones: Hydronics & Plumbing, HVAC/R, Industrial Maintenance, Automation & IIoT, and a new Net-Zero Pavilion that spotlights low-carbon equipment and refrigerants. More than 350 exhibitors will occupy 600 booths, among them major OEMs such as Carrier, Uponor, Taco, Viega, Emerson, Mitsubishi Electric, Watts and Schneider Electric. A keynote theatre runs concurrent technical sessions: the 2025 program opens with a morning plenary on the federal Clean Technology investment tax credit, followed by deep-dive tracks on heat-pump retrofits, ammonia/CO₂ refrigeration safety, smart boiler controls, and ASHRAE 15-22 code updates. Forty-five minute “Tech Talks” on the show floor give visitors live demonstrations of pressing tools, leak detectors and variable-speed pumps. The popular “Mechanics Challenge” returns, inviting teams of licensed technicians to diagnose staged system faults in under ten minutes for prizes. Admission is free to qualified trade visitors who pre-register; students from partnered colleges can attend under a mentorship passport that includes guided tours and résumé reviews. Organizers stress that CMPX is not a consumer show—badges are verified against industry credentials at the door. Networking receptions are held each afternoon in the Net-Zero Lounge, where municipalities and utilities outline rebate programs for high-efficiency chillers and low-GWP refrigerants. The co-located “Women in Mechanical Systems” breakfast, now in its fourth year, will host a panel on retaining female apprentices in the skilled trades. Show management anticipates releasing the full seminar schedule and mobile app in December 2024.
