DMEA – Connecting Digital Health is Europe’s flagship gathering for health-IT decision-makers, bringing together more than 12,000 participants from 70 nations every spring in Berlin. Organised by the German Association of Health-IT Vendors (bvitg) and supported by the German Hospital Federation, the German Medical Association and the German Nursing Council, the 2025 edition will run from 25 to 27 March at the Berlin exhibition grounds. The event is strictly in-person and combines a trade show, congress, workshops, match-making and live demonstrations under one roof. More than 750 exhibitors—covering electronic health records, interoperability standards, AI-supported diagnostics, cybersecurity, telemedicine, cloud infrastructure, mobile nursing apps and robotics—use the fair to launch products and forge partnerships with hospitals, practices, insurers and policy bodies. The parallel congress programme, curated by an independent scientific board, features 300-plus lectures and panel debates structured along five tracks: clinical information systems, interoperability & standards, data protection & security, AI & analytics, and transformation & change management. Confirmed keynote speakers for 2025 include EU Health Commissioner Olivér Várhelyi, German Federal Health Minister Professor Karl Lauterbach, Charité CEO Professor Heyo Kroemer, and WHO Chief Scientist Dr. Soumya Swaminathan. Special forums spotlight nursing digitisation, the European Health Data Space, cybersecurity stress tests and the German “KHZG” hospital-funding programme. A start-up zone hosts 120 young companies pitching to venture capital firms, while a joint stand run by the EU and the German Federal Ministry of Health presents funded research consortia. Visitors can obtain certified continuing-education points from most German medical, nursing and informatics chambers. Networking formats include guided tours, themed breakfast briefings, an evening reception at the Federal Press Ball and a job wall that filled more than 1,000 vacancies last year. The overarching goal is to accelerate practical implementation of interoperable, user-centred digital solutions that improve patient safety, clinical workflows and population health while guaranteeing data sovereignty and regulatory compliance.
