The 38th International Congress of German Ophthalmic Surgery (DOC) is scheduled to take place from June 18-20, 2026, at the NürnbergConvention Center in Nürnberg. Renowned experts in the field will present innovations and developments in ophthalmic surgery and discuss gold standards with the audience. Practical ophthalmic surgery will be given significant attention in wet labs and courses, ensuring comprehensive training and further education. Master Class courses will provide an excellent overview of a specific area of ophthalmic surgery and eye medicine, while operation courses will be continuously expanded to provide participants with a clear surgical procedure broken down into individual steps, accompanied by explanations of indications and post-operative care. Pro and contra sessions will feature presentations by the speakers and discussions with the audience. Video Live Surgery will again be a focal point, offering detailed information on intraoperative management of complex surgical situations. The Video Live Surgery Festival will originate from the University Eye Clinic in Homburg/Saar. Consilium diagnosticum, Consilium therapeuticum, and Consilium retinologicum are highly sought after and an essential part of the DOC. DOC updates in the areas of cataract, glaucoma, and retina will provide information on the gold standard in these fields. The symposium "AI in ophthalmology and ophthalmic surgery" will provide the latest insights into the impact of Artificial Intelligence on the field. The seminar series on management in clinics and practices, as well as the symposia on strabology and elective services (IGeLSymposium), will continue to attract great interest. The seminar for ophthalmic practitioners is of particular importance for all colleagues in clinics and practices. The DOC offers a comprehensive and high-quality program (OAP program) for ophthalmic medical assistants, nurses, and administrative staff in clinics and practices. Simultaneous translation from German to English will be available in the large Tokyo hall on all three days for international guests.
