The 2026 European Utility Engineering & Energy Storage Summit (EUEESS) will convene 400+ transmission and distribution engineers, asset managers, battery manufacturers, software specialists and policy makers in Vienna on 17-18 November 2026. Organised by ECV, the summit is designed for professionals shaping the next decade of grid modernisation, large-scale storage deployment and sector coupling across Europe.

The two-day programme is built around four parallel tracks: HV/MV grid digitalisation, battery safety and second-life, power-to-X integration, and regulatory roadmaps. Day 1 opens with a joint plenary on the EU Action Plan “Grids for Net-Zero 2050”, followed by technical deep-dives on dynamic line rating, SF6-free switchgear and hybrid storage architectures. Day 2 focuses on business-critical issues: revenue stacking for co-located assets, cyber-security for substation automation, and circular-economy strategies for lithium and sodium-ion batteries. Case-study sessions will present live data from TenneT’s 2 GW “North Sea Energy Island” project, Iberdrola’s 400 MWh solar-plus-storage complex in Extremadura, and Stedin’s retrofit of 380 kV reactors with grid-forming inverters.

More than 45 speakers have already been confirmed, including Laurent Schmitt, Secretary General, ENTSO-E; Dr. Ines Rennefeld, CEO, 50Hertz Transmission; Elena Bou, Director of Innovation, EIT InnoEnergy; Michael Salomon, Head of Technology, Fluence Europe; and Prof. Ad van Wijk, TU Delft. Interactive formats include a “reverse-pitch” session where utilities outline unsolved pain points to start-ups, and an evening “innovation crawl” where exhibitors demonstrate containerised battery units, solid-state prototypes and AI-based predictive-maintenance platforms. A poster zone will showcase 60 peer-reviewed papers on thermal runaway suppression and advanced impedance spectroscopy.

The summit is held in person only; proceedings will be published under Creative Commons licence. Registered delegates receive exclusive access to the 2026 “European Storage Market Outlook” report valued at €499.
