INTERPHEX OSAKA is Japan’s largest biopharmaceutical development and manufacturing exposition, held every two years in the heart of the Osaka medical cluster. The 2024 edition will take place 19-21 June at INTEX Osaka as a fully in-person event, occupying four exhibition halls and 1,300 booths. Organised by RX Japan and co-located with the country’s premier life-science conferences BioPharma Expo, PharmaLab Expo and Regenerative Medicine Expo, the gathering is expected to welcome 18,000 professionals from across Asia-Pacific and beyond. Target audiences include CMC directors, process engineers, QA/QC managers, regulatory affairs specialists, biotech start-ups, CDMO/CMO executives and procurement teams from global pharma companies. The show floor is segmented into six technology zones: bioprocessing equipment, single-use systems, sterile filling & packaging, analytical & testing instruments, excipients & raw materials, and digital/AI solutions. More than 450 suppliers will debut technologies ranging from 6,000 L single-use bioreactors and continuous downstream skids to real-time TOC analysers and robotic isolators. A parallel conference programme delivers 120 sessions over three days. Keynote speakers confirmed for 2024 include Dr Tetsuya Hamaguchi, Vice President of Takeda’s CMC Division, who will outline global supply-chain resilience strategies; Dr Yuko Iwata, PMDA’s Office of Biological Standards, presenting the latest GMP data-integrity guidance; and Professor Shin-ichi Nishimura, Kyoto University, discussing AI-driven glyco-engineering for next-generation antibody drugs. Additional plenaries will cover mRNA scale-up case studies, continuous manufacturing validation, quality-by-design for personalised medicines, and post-pandemic regulatory harmonisation between PMDA, FDA and EMA. Technical workshops run every morning and afternoon, offering hands-on training in PAT implementation, endotoxin testing with recombinant reagents, and closed-system aseptic connections. For the first time, a “Start-up Park” will host 60 emerging companies pitching novel modalities such as circular RNA therapeutics and in-situ gene-editing vectors. Networking features include one-to-one partnering software that matches attendees with CDMOs, an international pavilions reception, and daily poster tours highlighting academic-industry collaboration projects. Admission to the exhibition is free after on-line pre-registration; conference sessions require a separate delegate pass.
