IPB Expo is the world’s largest dedicated trade fair for the powder, granule and bulk-solids industries in China. The 2024 edition will be staged 28-30 August at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition & Convention Center as a fully in-person event. More than 500 exhibitors from 20 countries are expected to occupy 25,000 m² of net space, while organisers anticipate 15,000 professional visitors from sectors such as chemicals, pharmaceuticals, food & nutrition, plastics, advanced ceramics, battery materials, 3-D printing, environmental protection and metallurgy. The show is co-located with “Powder & Bulk China” and runs under the patronage of the Chinese Chemical Energy Committee and the China Powder Technology Association.

The three-day programme is built around four topical zones: processing (size reduction, screening, drying, agglomeration); conveying & storage (silos, feeders, valves, dust control); analytics & safety (particle sizing, explosion protection, ATEX); and intelligent manufacturing (automation, sensors, digital twins). Each zone combines live demonstrations with technical theatres where 120 industry experts will give 30-minute application briefings. Confirmed speakers include Prof. Li Junjie, Tsinghua University, on ultra-fine grinding energy savings; Dr. Karen Schmidt, Hosokawa Alpine, on containment for HPAPIs; and Mr. Zhou Ming, CATL, on powder handling for lithium-ion cathode production. A new “Start-up Valley” area will host 40 early-stage companies pitching low-carbon or AI-driven solutions to a jury of investors.

Parallel to the exhibition, visitors can join half-day tutorials on 27 August covering dust explosion mitigation, hygienic design for food powders, and updated Chinese GB dust standards. Two site tours are also scheduled: one to BASF’s advanced additive plant in Pudong and another to a fully automated calcium-carbonate micronising facility in Songjiang. Entrance to the exhibition is free after on-line pre-registration; tutorials and tours require a modest fee that includes documentation and round-trip transport. IPB Expo positions itself as the gateway to the Asian powder market, offering international suppliers direct access to purchasing managers from China’s rapidly expanding battery, pharmaceutical and food processing sectors while giving domestic engineers a first-hand look at next-generation bulk handling, safety and analysis technologies.
