Interphoto is the longest-running professional imaging and photographic-equipment exhibition in China. The 25th edition will be staged in Shanghai from 22 to 25 October, occupying more than 30,000 m² of the Shanghai Exhibition Centre. Organised by the China Photographers’ Association and the China International Photographic Professional Committee, the four-day fair is expected to attract more than 30,000 visitors: commercial photographers, content creators, wedding and portrait studios, camera-club members, photographic dealers, rental houses, media buyers and representatives of the booming short-video and live-streaming industries. More than 250 brands have already booked space, including Canon, Nikon, Sony, Fujifilm, Panasonic, DJI, Hasselblad, Leica, Sigma, Tamron, Godox, Aputure, Nanlite, Zhiyun, SmallRig, Atomos, Blackmagic Design and Laowa, who will use the show to launch new cameras, lenses, lighting, drones, gimbals, tripods, bags, memory cards, editing software and colour-management tools. The organisers have framed 2024 as “the year of AI-powered imaging”; the keynote theatre will therefore open with a morning session on computational photography, machine-learning autofocus and cloud-based post-production, followed by panel discussions on copyright protection in the age of generative AI and on sustainable manufacturing for batteries and optical glass. A parallel stage devoted to motion imaging will host masterclasses on 8K RAW workflow, LED volumetric lighting and virtual production. Wedding and portrait specialists can attend back-to-back demonstrations covering new posing techniques, AI retouching plug-ins and client-gallery sales psychology, while a live-streaming pavilion will let influencers test the latest PTZ cameras and auto-tracking software. Hands-on zones remain the show’s signature: visitors can borrow kit, walk through three fully styled studio sets, fly drones in a safety net, or join low-light street-photo walks along the historic Nanjing Road under the guidance of Magnum contributor Lu Nan and Sony Artisan of Imagery Wang Shen. Portfolio reviews run every afternoon; editors from National Geographic China, Getty Images Asia and Huawei NEXT-IMAGE will offer one-on-one feedback. The event concludes with the Interphoto Awards ceremony on the evening of 24 October, recognising the best commercial, documentary, wedding and mobile images shot in the past year.
