WTM Africa is the continent’s premier B2B travel trade exhibition, staged annually at the Cape Town International Convention Centre. The 2024 edition will run 3 – 5 April, returning as a fully in-person event that unites inbound and outbound tourism professionals from more than 80 countries. Hosted alongside IBTM Africa, the show is designed for destination marketing organisations, tour operators, airlines, hotel groups, safari lodges, technology providers, MICE planners and travel advisors seeking new products, routes and partnerships. A timed-networking appointment system pre-schedules up to 40 one-to-one buyer-supplier meetings for each hosted buyer, while the free-to-attend conference programme tackles the issues reshaping African travel: visa facilitation, sustainable aviation fuel, community-based conservation, women-in-tourism leadership and the surge in high-yield long-haul source markets. Confirmed 2024 keynote speakers include Namibia’s Deputy Minister of Environment, Forestry and Tourism, the CEO of South African Tourism and the UNWTO Regional Director for Africa; additional sessions will be led by Google Travel, Airbnb, the Global Sustainable Tourism Council and regional powerhouses such as Kenya Tourism Board and Rwanda Development Board. Topics on the agenda range from experiential safari trends and carbon measurement tools to the growth of luxury rail and the impact of the African Continental Free Trade Area on visitor mobility. Parallel features include the Technology Theatre, where start-ups pitch solutions for dynamic packaging and fintech payment rails; the Responsible Tourism Awards, showcasing lodges and community projects that deliver measurable social-environmental impact; and the Speed Networking Lounge for SMMEs seeking mentorship from leading outbound operators. Evening functions move to iconic Cape venues: the Welcome Reception on the Zeitz MOCAA rooftop and the Gala Awards at the Table Bay Hotel. Registration is open to trade visitors only; badges are collected on-site with passport or business credentials. WTM Africa is part of the World Travel Market portfolio, owned by RX.
