TOKYO PACK is Japan’s premier packaging exhibition, held every two years at Tokyo Big Sight. The 2024 edition, staged 23–25 October, will occupy East Halls 4–8 and attract over 700 exhibitors across 40,000 m². Organised by the Japan Packaging Institute, the show is recognised by the World Packaging Organisation as the largest dedicated packaging event in Asia and serves as the gateway for foreign firms entering the Japanese market. The three-day programme is strictly in-person and admission is limited to trade visitors; students and the general public are not admitted. A concurrent International Packaging Conference runs 22–25 October, offering simultaneous Japanese–English interpretation and drawing regulators, brand owners, retailers, material scientists, machinery makers and designers. Keynote speakers confirmed for 2024 include the Commissioner of the Consumer Affairs Agency, sustainability directors from Nestlé Japan and Suntory, and the president of the Asian Packaging Federation. Technical sessions will dissect themes such as mono-material films, fibre-based barrier systems, smart QR/RFQ traceability, reusable logistics containers, and compliance with Japan’s 2024 Plastic Resource Circulation Act. Live demonstrations on the show floor will feature high-speed form-fill-seal lines, robotics for e-commerce packing, digital printing for ultra-short runs, and inspection systems for recycled-content materials. Special zones spotlight emerging needs: the “Eco-Pack Plaza” certifies carbon-footprint-reducing solutions, the “Food Safety & Security Corner” presents antimicrobial and oxygen-scavenging technologies, and the “Start-up Pavilion” hosts thirty young companies pitching compostable resins and algae-derived coatings. Attendees can collect “Eco Points” by visiting sustainable booths and redeem them for saplings that will be planted in disaster-affected regions. Evening networking receptions pair regional sake producers with innovative glass and paperboard decorators, while university teams compete in the Young Designers’ Award for fully recyclable retail packages. Overseas pavilions from Germany, Italy, South Korea and Taiwan will showcase European high-precision dosing valves and Asian smart-label ecosystems. Pre-registration is encouraged and closes 20 September; on-site badges require two photo IDs and a business card. The event concludes with a plenary summary that is submitted to the government’s Circular Economy Council, directly influencing forth
