Wire China, the 10th China International Wire & Cable Industry Trade Fair, will take place 25-28 September 2024 at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre. Organised by the China Wire & Cable Association and Shanghai Electric Cable Research Institute, the four-day exhibition occupies 57,000 m² and expects 1,050 exhibitors and 42,000 professional visitors from more than 40 countries. The show is positioned as the flagship marketplace for the entire wire and cable value chain, targeting producers of power, optical-fibre, automotive, rail, marine and specialty cables as well as wire rod, insulation, compounding, machinery, testing and logistics suppliers. A concurrent congress runs three themed arenas: “Ultra-High Voltage & Grid Digitalisation,” “New Energy & EV Cabling Solutions,” and “Intelligent Manufacturing & Green Materials.” Confirmed keynote speakers include State Grid VP Dr. Wang Weidong, Prysmian EVP Andrea Pirondini, Nexans R&D director Dr. Pascal Rogge, Hengtong Group president Qian Zhiqiang, and Jiangsu Zhongtian chairman Xue Jiping. The agenda opens with a plenary on global demand forecasts through 2030, followed by technical sessions on 525 kV XLPE HVDC systems, 400 Gb/s submarine fibre pairs, halogen-free flame-retardant compounds, AI-based quality vision systems, and EU carbon-border-adjustment compliance. Live demonstration zones will show continuous-casting lines, laser diameter gauges, nano-coating curing, and robotic coiling. A start-up pavilion hosts 60 seed-stage companies presenting graphene conductors, biodegradable sheaths and hydrogen-compatible umbilicals. Academic posters from Tsinghua, Shanghai Jiao Tong and RWTH Aachen highlight superconducting tapes and recycled aluminium alloys. Networking features include a welcome reception, a “Meet the Utility Buyers” programme, and on-site matchmaking that pre-schedules 3,200 supplier-user meetings. Admission is trade-only; students and faculty receive complimentary badges on 27 September. The concurrent Wire China Conference proceedings will be published open-access, and exhibitors may book technical theatre slots to launch products. The event alternates annually with the Guangzhou stop of the Wire & Cable Show series; 2024 marks its return to Shanghai after a four-year absence.
