China Medical Equipment Fair 2024 Spring, the flagship gathering of Asia-Pacific’s medical-device industry, will be held from 17 to 20 April in Shanghai. Organised by Reed Sinopharm, the 87th edition is staged in-person only and expects 140,000 m² of exhibition space across eight halls of the National Exhibition and Convention Center. More than 4,200 domestic and overseas brands have secured booths, projecting 200,000 professional visits from 120 countries. The show targets distributors, hospital engineers, procurement officers, clinical academics, start-up founders, regulators and investors who need to source, benchmark or license every category of equipment: imaging, IVD, OR, emergency, rehabilitation, ophthalmology, dental, primary-care and smart-hospital solutions. A record 700 new products will launch during the four days, many making their global debut.

The concurrent conference programme offers 60 CME-accredited forums led by 500 speakers. Highlights include the China Hospital President Summit, the Medical Imaging Innovation Conference, the AI in Healthcare Summit, and the Belt-and-Road International Procurement Dialogue. Keynote confirmations feature Professor Zhang Wenhong of Huashan Hospital on value-based procurement, Dr. Wang Weidong of the National Medical Products Administration on fast-track approval pathways, and GE Healthcare’s global VP on photon-counting CT. Panels will debate DRG/DIP payment reform, domestic substitution roadmaps, cybersecurity for connected devices, and the commercialisation of mRNA platforms. A match-making system arranges 1,000 pre-scheduled buyer-supplier meetings, while a start-up pitch final awards RMB 5 million in total prizes.

Parallel zones deepen the visitor experience: the Smart Medical City showcases full-cycle digital hospitals; the Rehabilitation & Elderly Care Pavilion demonstrates robotic exoskeletons and home-care IoT; and the Medical Consumables & Dressings Hall spotlights sustainable materials. On-site training labs provide hands-on sessions for ultrasound-guided anaesthesia, ECMO simulation and emergency airway management. Registration is free for trade visitors before 31 March; standard passes convert to VIP access for hospital directors and group buyers, granting entry to lounges, priority seating at forums and shuttle services from partner hotels.
